The Earl Scandalous Wife Marriage by Scandal Book 4 edition by Ruth Ann Nordin Romance eBooks Reviews

Paula was not happy about how she made up her mind to become the bride of Perry. She got help to witness her and Perry's compromising kiss on the veranda at the ball. They went to Gretna Green to be married they night. She is just what the Earl of Clemet needed, she brought him out of his shell. Only one true rotten character in the book Stewart Leighton her black mailing brother.
The story was well written and the storyline well defined. The author drew the reader in and kept our interest throughout the story as well as allowing us to experience her characters many emotions. The story had intrigue, suspense, discoveries, betrayal, love, and a happily ever after.
Paula Leighton needed a husband quick or her brother Stewart was going to marry her off to the nasty old Duke of Leav-something repulsive as he and she's not having it! A flight to Gretna Green a ceremony over the anvil and she's home free! But ah, there's a catch, because of a secret in her past her brother proceeds to blackmail her! She then lies, steals to and from her husband Perry the Earl of Clement that she had ME on edge! This book features one of my favorite characters, Christopher Robinson who introduced the couple and made sure the scandal was broadcasted so his cousin could not escape!
I enjoyed reading two in this series and could not wait for this one. Perry was one of my favorite characters and I was excited about his story. I was disappointed to find this book was quite boring. I made myself finish it but kind of wish I hadn't. There was no passion in the story and it all felt bland. I would not recommend this book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had an unusual beginning for the unexpected couple. I loved how the heroine was able to turn the tables on fate to get a better happily ever after ending. And the hero learned that with true love you don't have to hide your light under a Bush, as the saying goes. But to let it shine for that perfect t someone, your soul mate. The one person who can bring out the best in you just by loving you. They learned that they were stronger together than each alone. Great romantic story!
This was a satisfying read a spunky heroine, an honorable hero, a nasty brother, and some other interesting characters. Determined not to be married off to an older, drunken man by her brother (the nasty), she confronts the first man she sees at a ball with a compromising situation. He sees it as such, but as an honorable man who has been wanting to wed, he agrees, and they go off immediately to Gretna Green. The more she knows him the more she admires and respects him, until it turns to . . . But of course this is a romance novel, isn't it? The nasty brother is probably the most interesting character; his greed and viciousness to his own sister are mind-boggling. The hero is also well drawn, and appears in a previous book. How he subtly and cleverly outwits the nasty brother is the meat of the story. Read on!
Desperate to avoid marrying the old, drunken husband her brother has selected for her, Paula Leighton decides she must find herself another husband before it's too late. Perry Ambrose, Earl of Clement has been unlucky in love. After searching the marriage mart for five years, his one financee ran away with another man. Ever the optimist, Perry knows he'll eventually find his match and hopes to settle happily into a real marriage. When Paula and Perry are introduced at a ball, their mutual objectives make their path obvious.

Not only is Perry wealthy and titled with beautiful blue eyes, he's the most kind and considerate man Paula has ever met and she can hardly believe her good fortune in finding him. Paula is beautiful, warm, loving and completely appreciates Perry. She feels she's not deserving of him. Unfortunately, Paula's brother is a selfish, conniving snake who's holding a secret from Paula's past over her head. The entire book alternates between loving moments between Perry and Paula (including several explicit scenes) contrasted with anxiety-filled moments between Paula and her brother.

Paula is really likable. Even her past mistake is forgivable, but she doesn't trust Perry's love enough to confide in him and keeps digging herself into a deeper hole. I'm not a violent person, but I wanted to reach through the pages of this book and throttle her brother. Characters from previous books are also featured, especially Agatha and Christopher Robinson. Other than when Christopher is goading him, Perry is blissfully happy throughout the book, but he knows something is bothering Paula. He resolves to be patient and persistent to find out what it is. In the end, everything works out and one of the Regency era's sweetest heros gets his HEA.
