EXCELLENT BOOK. BUY IMMEDIATELY.I'm not normally a fan of alternate history fiction, but I went to college with the author, so I thought I'd show some school loyalty and check it out. I'm glad I did.
The plot is intriguing because you have to bend your mind around a world where the Nazis won and no one cares about the US. The characters face a lot of personal challenges as they go through the action, which gives the story a lot of depth. They're interesting and you find yourself wanting to know what happens to them when you reach the end of the book.
The descriptions are written so you have a good picture in your mind of what the characters and scenes look like, which is excellent since I've never been to Germany myself.
Also, instead of dumping the entirety of the explanation of how the alternate history came to be, the author weaves it throughout the story, so you have to keep reading to understand how such a world could come to be. The alternate history is repugnant, but the author maintains a neutral tone, so you get to experience the revulsion through the characters and can process your own thoughts about how you'd react if you were them.
I will definitely recommend this book to people I know and I look forward to more of Ian's books!

One of the best alt history books I have even read, great from start to finish, more then worth the price
A bit trite in the plot. However, interesting to read how things might have turned out. Worth a rainy day.
Old topic with an interesting twist. The characters were well developed and likeable. The story line was far out but somehow through good writing not that unbelievable.
I normally don't read this type of book, but I'm really glad I bought it. When I started to read it I couldn't put it down. I hope Mr. Racey writes anothet one soon!
Enjoyable. Nice use of period flavor.
I wonder if the U.S. would be that much of a wuss, but after seeing America kowtow to Obama, it makes a lot more sense.
1. You will get sucked into the story right away. I was hooked within the first 10 pages and read the entire book in 4 days.
2. When I wasn’t reading the book, I was thinking about the book. The alternate history universe Mr. Racey created is rich and gets your brain wondering about what else might be different in this world.
3. It made me feel a bit like a hipster, since hipsters always like to say they enjoyed things before they were considered cool. Ian Racey may not be well known now—but he will be—and this review serves as evidence that I was one of the original Ian Racey fans.
I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the storyline. There were definitely twists I didn't see coming but were thought provoking and helped lead the story in an interesting direction. I stayed up later than I should have on several nights as I was compelled to see what happened next. Excellent work Ian, when's your next book?
